Ichigo is a normal high-school girl who can only think food and boys.She is in love with the ultra-cute guy of her dreams, Aoyama Masa. That is until, on the day of her first date with him, she is targeted by a mysterious duo. After some mysterious comments, they seem to activate something within her.

Ichigo finds out that she is to be part of the Mew Mew project with the mission to save the earth from mysterious alien "chimera animals," that take ordinary animals and mutate them for mysterious purposes. Under the cover of the Mew Mew cafe, a very chic and kawaii cake shop where Ichigo now waitresses, she and her comrades keep a watch out to save the earth from the approaching menace.
